Marine Technology
Marine Technology program is the provincial key discipline and the key discipline in Ningbo University. It was established in 1986 and is the first navigation related undergraduate program in Zhejiang Province. Based on the “STCW 78 / 10 Convention” and the “Maritime Education and Training Quality Management Rules of People’s Republic of China”, this program aims to educate the graduates with advanced navigational technology as well as the knowledge of shipping management in companies and institutions.
Marine Engineering
As the key discipline in the city of Ningbo, it was established in 1987 and became the first undergraduate program in the field of Marine Engineering. It aims to educate advanced marine engineering graduates who not only meet the requirements of STCW78/95 Convention and qualification standards for marine staff in China but also have the ability of performing advanced modern Naval Mechatronic Engineering Management. These graduates are competent in domestic and foreign shipping companies, international seafarer assignments, shipyards and ship inspection department, Public Security Marine Police Force, marine shipping management systems, and other related positions.
Major in Logistics Management
Having the distinct advantage of being one of the first two colleges in Zhejiang Province to offer this undergraduate degree, students of the major in logistics management study the distribution, material purchasing, warehousing and production operations. With Ningbo’s status as one of top 10 ports in the world, students have exceptional opportunities to observe closely how cargoes move from port to port and what systems are necessary to keep them moving.
With Ningbo University’s degree completion of Logistics Management major, students are able to work in shipping companies, 3rd party logistics, international freight forwarding, ports and any other related companies.
An undergraduate degree, combined with one of numerous internship opportunities, allows graduates to transition into a career or to further their studies by entering a graduate program.
Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
The program of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering was established based on the development needs of marine economy in 2011. This program started to enroll students in 2012. It contains three research tracks: Design and Manufacture of Naval Architecture and Ocean Structure, Port and Offshore Engineering, and Ocean Energy Utilization and Environmental Protection. The purpose of this program is to cultivate advanced navigation architecture and ocean engineering graduates with the basic knowledge of modern naval architecture, ocean engineering design and management, and the basic ability of computer programming and application. The graduates can be competent in the positions of planning & management services, logistic technology companies, universities and other related fields.
